Not one to be typecast by a decidedly mainstream background that included stints with Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Wycliffe Gordon likes to listen to and all kinds of music.
Showing more sides to a versatility first hinted at by the sanctified sounds of The Gospel Truth, What You Dealin' With finds Gordon's trombone in a number of settings, from funk to Ellington classics and even an impressive solo display.
The great Ryan Kisor on trumpet and tenor saxists Victor Goines or Herb Harris round out the superb frontline on Gordon's sophomore effort for Criss Cross. On bass, Zach Pride, on drums, Rodney Green.
